In memory of TED ADAMS
1940-2012
Director, Student Programs and Activities Center, 1981-2000
Volunteer, Undergraduate Admissions

We mourn the loss of our dear friend and colleague, Ted Adams, who served the University of California, Davis for over 20 years, and remember him with great affection for his dedication as a mentor and guide to students and staff alike.  Ted gave his all to support the mission of UC Davis.  He influenced the lives of generations of students through his work with registered student organizations, Picnic Day, Whole Earth Festival, Danzantes del Alma, Culture Days, the Cal Aggie Marching Band-uh and University Religious Council.  Ted was beloved for the respect and affection with which he treated everyone, his calm and patient demeanor, his wisdom, humor, integrity and compassion.  He was committed to making a place for everyone and worked tirelessly to break down barriers.  He inspired us and served unselfishly.  Ted’s career was devoted to mentoring students and on his retirement, Ted and Junko Adams created an endowment for an award to recognize the outstanding work and contributions of student organization leaders.  We were honored and delighted to thank Ted and recognize his service to UC Davis by establishing the Adams Award for Leadership in a Student Organization.
