Why do you choose to be involved as a student leader?
I like being a part of campus. Just by being involved, you give yourself a lot of things to do, connections, and things to learn.

What have you learned about leadership through your work with others on campus?
It teaches you to be open and to see other perspectives. You learn more about communication skills and organization skills. I go for it. I want to learn more and become a better leader.

What is your most memorable experience at UC Davis?
Last year at DDR, it was our (SoNE1) second year performing. The year before we were new and just trying to get our name out there. Last year, we showed our improvement. It was great seeing everyone’s reaction!

What is your favorite UC Davis tradition?

Picnic Day! Everyone gets together and it is a lot of fun. You get to see all the UC Davis-esque things and see your friends. It is always a good day.

What advice would you give to a student thinking about getting involved?
Definitely get involved. Get yourself out there. It is definitely worthwhile. You get to meet more people and be part of campus. People say there is nothing to do in Davis, but if you are involved you have a good group of people to hangout with.

How does getting involved complement your studies?
It gives you a balance between full on course work and co-curricular. It helps you out with basic skills you need for the future. It helped me stay balanced between school and work.

What are your future plans? (How has your involvement on campus prepared you for life after graduation?)
I’m applying to schools of public health. My Health Education and Promotion work helps with that. All my roles help me be a better leader to educate the public about health- like being able to teach after being a learning assistant.
