Why do you choose to be involved as a student leader?
Naturally, I wanted to be involved freshman year. As I got more whole-heartedly involved, I took on more roles until there was nothing else to do.
What have you learned about leadership through your work with others on campus?
I learned how to build leaders around me instead of doing it all by myself. In a capella, there are many personalities that want different things. It is about learning how to implement your ideas yourself so other’s don’t have to do it for you.
What is your most memorable experience at UC, Davis? What is your favorite UC, Davis tradition?
My last a capella performance last spring. We got a standing ovation. After four years of building up the group, we finally built ourselves up to where we used to be. It meant a lot especially since I have stage fright.
What is your favorite UC, Davis tradition?
Going to the arboretum. I run there all the time. I spend the majority of my time there.
What advice would you give to a student thinking about getting involved?
Give it a shot. Don’t be scared. Take the first step. All of the organizations are comfortable places to be.
How does getting involved complement your studies?
Having people that are doing huge things in their lives make me more passionate about what I’m doing. I’m proud to have that support system.
I’m actually moving to Nashville in 3 weeks to work at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to work in the country music industry.
