Vietnamese Student Association

We are an organization on campus that strives to promote Vietnamese culture on and around campus to everyone interested in the Vietnamese culture; share current events and social issues surrounding the Vietnamese worldwide; and provide philanthropy to Vietnamese-based organizations year-round. We strive to continue the Vietnamese traditions, for fear of it becoming extinct as the new generation replaces the old. We hope to continue to strengthen and continue the Vietnamese language and culture! We can only do so with the participation and support of members!
The Vietnamese Student Association has been a club at UC Davis since 1981, and is among the most active Vietnamese Student Association in Northern California.

How many members do you have?

Our membership varies every year from 40 to 60 individuals, although we do have a total amount of 426 members on our facebook group, where the more current updates are available for members that cannot come to our general meetings consistently.

What are the benefits of being involved in your organization?

We strive to continue the Vietnamese traditions, for fear of it becoming extinct as the new generation replaces the old. We hope to continue to strengthen and continue the Vietnamese language and culture! We can only do so with the participation and support of members! Other than that VSA provides a safe social space for anyone who wants to meet awesome people, participate in culture promoting events as well actively learn more about the Vietnamese Culture. It is never too late to join!

Does your organization collaborate with other student organizations?

Our organization does numerous collaborations with other ethnic organizations on campus throughout the year. Other than collabs with the organization on campus we also do mixers with other VSAs at other schools in Northern California.

Fun Facts:

VSA is a affiliate of a bigger organization called the UVSA of northern California. We work with other affiliate VSA groups in Northern California, on charity events and community events, to not only better and hold on the Vietnamese culture on our campus but also in our surrounding community.  Although VSA is a cultural club, we are also big on performing dance through our contribution in performing cultural dance around campus at big events such as APCN and Picnic Day.
